Bailine Computer Specifications

The Bailine Printer

  • PCL (HP compatible)
  • Legacy Parallel (Centronics) port
  • Legacy DOS ('Not just Windows') compatible
  • Parallel cable no longer than 6 feet or 2 meters

'Not just' means the printer must be able to work without having Windows 'helping it'. You may not find these printers in a shop selling windows consumer equipment only, but any larger web shop should carry a selection of suitable printers.

How to use the above list? Look for a printer supporting any version of PCL. Make sure the printer also has a parallel port (Many larger printers has several types of ports). Make sure the printer has not been 'cripled' to run under Windows only. (Unlikely for any but the cheapest printers).
Finally remember to buy a parallel cable. (Most printers are sold without cables)

The smaller printers ment for consumer use are Windows compatible only. Avoid such printers. They are usually cheap to buy but they are often more costly in use, and they wont last long with the tear and wear in a typical Bailine shop. Buy a more advanced printer.

Currently (2017) recommended printer: HP Laserjet p2035 A4

Other printers used by Bailine shops currently and/or previously:
Dell Laser Printer 1720, Samsung ML-3051, HP LaserJet 1315, HP LaserJet 1160, HP LaserJet 1300, HP LaserJet 1100A, Brother MSF 9070, Brother HL 2070N.

Printer models are phased out frequently and new models are introduced all the time. The above list may be used as a pointer to find new models that have replaced the listed models.
